Our VAT number is 927 5068 07 Family Fund Trading Limited is a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Family Fund Trust for Families with Severely Disabled Children, a charity registered in England (number 1053866) and a company limited by guarantee registered in England (number 03166627) with the same registered office as Family Fund Trading Limited.

We are committed to ensuring that all personal information we hold is treated properly and in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 (“the Act”). What information do we collect and why?
We collect information from you if you choose to contact us with an enquiry, request information from us, use any of our services (such as Chat with extra) or purchase products from us . The information we collect includes your contact details (such as name, postal address and email address) together with information that you may provide to us such as details of your child’s physical and mental health or condition and such other information as we require to respond to your enquiry. You warrant that any information you supply to us is accurate and up to date, that you will inform us if any such information requires updating and that if you submit a third party’s details to us you have that third party’s permission to do so.
How will we use your information?
As well as dealing with your enquiries and orders, we may (unless you have told us otherwise) use your personal information to provide you with details of how we are able to offer help, new services and changes to the website. What third parties might we disclose your information to?

We use our computer database (which includes anonymised personal information about you and your child) to undertake studies about the needs and circumstances of families with disabled children. We will keep this information indefinitely and may provide it to the Family Fund Trust for families with Severely Disabled Children, a range of third parties including researchers and government departments and agencies.
Researchers sometimes contact us asking whether any families with whom we have worked would be interested in participating in external research projects. In such circumstances, we may write to you to ask whether you would like to take part in the study or we may ask them to write to you on our behalf after we have placed them under an obligation to only use those of your details which we disclose to them for that purpose and to keep those details secure. If the researcher proves that you have opted to take part in the study and consented to us disclosing personal information in addition to your contact details, we will release such personal information to that researcher.
If you respond to any researcher who contacts you that researcher rather than us will become the data controller of any information you provide to that researcher and you should ask for details of how it will use that information. If you do not wish to participate in such research projects at all please let us know. Any published research results will contain general information on trends and/or issues faced by families with disabled children and will not identify individual families unless those families have given their express consent.
Do we hold information for statistical research purposes?

We may identify third parties from time to time who we think will be able to provide you with goods or services (including advice and support services) which you may be interested in. Unless you let us know that you do not want us to, we will either contact you by post, email, text message or telephone with details of such third parties or we may ask them to contact you directly using any of the same methods after we have placed them under an obligation to only use those of your details which we disclose to them for that purpose and to keep those details secure.
If you respond to any third party who contacts you that third party rather than us will become the data controller of any information you provide to that third party and you should ask for details of how it will use that information.
Will you receive information about our and our associated organisations’ services or marketing and fundraising information?
Unless you let us know that you do not want us to, we may contact you by post, email, text message or telephone to let you know more about our services and activities and the goods, services and activities of organisations with which we are associated. A list of our associated organisations is available on request and includes Family Fund.
How do you stop information being sent to you about our and our associated organisations’ services or marketing and fundraising information, or the goods and services or other organisations?
We ask you when you submit information to us whether you wish to opt to receive this type of information from us, our associated organisations and from third parties. You can ask that such information is no longer sent to you by logging in to the My Account page of this website and changing your communication preferences. Alternatively you can email us at

How do you access the personal information we hold about you?

As soon as we are satisfied as to your identity we will send you, within 40 days of receipt of your written request, a copy of all the personal information we hold about you which we are legally required to disclose. If you make an application to Family Fund for assistance, whether online or otherwise, Family Fund will ask you to agree to be bound by the terms of a separate data protection statement setting out, amongst other things, what your and Family Fund's obligations are with regard to the personal information which will be processed as a result of your application, the third parties to whom Family Fund may disclose your personal information and the uses Family Fund may make of your personal information.

If you apply to become a member or supporter of the Family Fund extra website you will be bound by the terms of this Privacy Policy as are all users of the website. What if you make a purchase or donation online?
If you make a purchase or donation online using the links provided on the Family Fund extra website you will be transferred to a secure server operated by a third party payment processor. That payment processor will collect your credit card, debit card or (if paying by direct debit) bank account details along with other information in order to process your donation. The information you provide when donating online or by any other method listed on this website will only be used in accordance with the terms of this Privacy Policy.

The Share Your Story and Upload a Photo facilities allow you to upload text and photos to an area of this website. The text and photos will be treated in the same manner as comments posted on Chat with extra and the

What if you use the "Send an E-Card" or “Invite a Family a Friend” facilities?
This website contains facilities which allow you to send an electronic postcard or message to a third party using contact details supplied by you. We will only use third party contact details for the purpose of delivering the electronic postcard or message unless that third party consents to us using its information for other purposes.
